Family support for parents on the Special Care Baby Unit
We want help parents cope with the stress of having a baby on the SCBU. We want to know if there are things we could do to help, and any other ideas you may have. To get a better idea, we would be grateful if you could fill in a few quick questions below.
Most parents find having a poorly or premature baby comes as a complete shock, and one of the most difficult thing they have ever had to cope with. Many parents tell us they find other parents or staff on the baby unit can be a great source of support during difficult times, and many parents have supportive families who help. For some parents support from other professionals such as counselors, social workers or psychologists can be really helpful. Please tell us about your experiences. This information is all anonymous - this means we do not know which parents have responded, and we cannot link your responses to you or your baby.
